My Story
I had studied counselling years ago, and when I started volunteering for Childline I knew that counselling was what I wanted to do.
I trained through the CPCAB as an integrative counsellor, as I believe that different things work for different people. When we work together, I recognise you as the expert in your own life.
We work together to find where you are right now, where you would like to be and how we can get you there together.
I have completed my level 5 in CBT adding to the knowledge I gained in my core training.
I strive to continue to add to my skills and knowledge by continuing with my studies including, Level 1 Emotion Freedom Technique(EFT), ASIST suicide awareness, WRAP, even Reiki.
I have studied and have knowledge of Al-anon being a sponsor for many years helping me to understand and work with those struggling with others alcohol use and enabling me to integrate this into my work if requested, as well as working with people with substance abuse issues with compassion and understanding.
Working as staff in Childline gave me the experience to be solution focused working in short term,
Cruse Bereavement which gave me an in-depth understanding of death and to recognise the impact of losing someone in our lives and the complex feelings around that as well as the understanding that loss and grief isn't just reserved for death.
My work in the prisons opened my eyes to a new level of understanding and non-judgement that I now share with all my clients.
